Chapter Ninety Four
Whatever conflict Sonny had been stuck in the
middle of, suddenly his future was clear, suddenly everything made sense. THIS
was what he was born to do; Martha had her arms wrapped around him, hands
dragging through his hair as she devoured his mouth with enthusiasm. Her lips
were exotic yet familiar, and literally ravished him. And for a moment he was a
welcome prisoner, just absorbing the sensations of her mouth her inquisitive
tongue, the pressure of her fingers pulling him close. His heart was pounding,
and if she wasn’t drawing her every breath deep into her own lungs, then he’d
be breathless anyway.
Sonny was tempted to stamp his feet as he
felt as though he was floating, actually leaving the ground. It was ethereal,
beautiful...and then she pressed her body into his, and he could feel those
firm breasts against his chest, her smooth legs buried their way between his.
She was a demon, a vixen, and he was bewitched all over again.
His final resolve crumpled and he spread his
hands across her spine, lowering to cup her buttocks, then he fought back, his
mouth wrestled hers until he had her tipped back theatrically, clinging to him,
opening her mouth, her heart and her soul to him.
Eventually she pulled back, just a fraction
and rested her forehead against his, in the strange position they’d ended up in
her eyes were level with his. “Now do you know what you want?” Her voice was
hoarse with emotion.
Sonny gave a guttural growl, “you are all
I’ve ever wanted, I can’t say sorry enough times.”
She smiled, that knowing foxy smile,
“sometimes you have to stop talking, stop thinking and just go with your
heart.”
“Everything
I’ve fought against doing.”
She nodded, “I want you, Sonny Carter, the
good, the bad and the probably ugly, all of you, freckles, warts and all.
Otherwise...”
He lifted his hand to her mouth, fingers
covering her lips, “sshh. You’ve got all of me, you’ve ALWAYS had all of me,
you know all my dark secrets and you still love me. That amazes me.”
Martha’s grin was a ‘cat that got the cream’ kind of grin and it did wonderful things to
him, as she replied, “I aim to please,” he was lifting the vest that she’d just
put on to cover herself and removing it. The grin widened as she stepped back
from him, and as he lifted an eyebrow, she giggled. Free from his grasp she
kicked off the boots she wore, then loosened the belt on her shorts. As they
fell to the floor Sonny growled stalking towards her.
As he reached her he spun her in his arms,
wrapping his arms around her bare stomach, the sight of that bikini was driving
him wild. How the four crocheted triangles covered her dignity he had no idea,
but they did...just.
Sinking his teeth into her shoulder, he
turned them until they stood in front of the full length mirror. When he felt
Martha turn her head not wanting to look at herself, he tilted her jaw, forced
her to see herself.
“You’re
amazing,” he whispered against her ear, before licking at her ear lobe. That
caused her to throw her head back on to her shoulder, and with a smile he
pulled her spine against his chest. “Watch me.” Martha’s eyes opened lazily as
his hands lifted to cup her barely covered breasts, he moaned against her ear,
“so perfect.”
She watched as he tugged at the ties, at the
back of her neck, and behind her, the top fell away revealing her in glorious
double vision via the mirror. Sonny didn’t think he could get any harder, but
her body stretched, pale soft flesh a stark contrast to his darker tanned
hands. As she reached her hands up to grip his head, pull his lips to her
shoulder and neck, he was rewarded with those captivating breasts jutting out
into his hands, her writhing against him. It was all too much. He wanted to
make this special, but as with every time they came together, it was explosive,
uncontrollable.
He tugged at the bow over one hip, the only
thing covering her, and loosening one side was enough to cause the scrap to
fall to the floor. Completely naked, proud, strong, she was a million miles
from the shy almost reclusive woman he’d met a year ago. Now she was a sexual
goddess. Taking her hand he dragged her to the bed, and as she lowered herself
to the mattress, he threw off his shirt, shorts and shoes. As naked as she was,
he rolled onto the bed beside her, moving over her, and securing her jaw with
his hand, he devoured her lips once more. Neither could hold on, neither could
resist, and it was Martha that rolled him onto his back, climbed onto him, then
lowered herself very steadily onto him.
Her lips parted and she exhaled slowly as he
filled her, and it was the last moment of sanity for either of them. The
harder, the faster the more furious it became, the higher they climbed. Sonny
was slick with sweat as he saw her eyes widen, felt her grip him in spasm of
pleasure, then he watched her erupt in rapture, and that sight alone would have
been enough to make him join her there, but it was so much more.
“Jesus
Martha,” he snatched through gritted teeth as he was overwhelmed by something
that felt like electrocution.
As his eyes started to close, his racing
heart, his tense body all began to steady, she gave him the most devastating
smile, then moaned, “oh Sonny.”
Was it an hour later or two? Martha had no
grasp of time, she’d been stuck to Sonny like glue, their bodies had barely
separated, her mouth was swollen from kissing, her breasts felt tender from the
abrasion of his fingers, the nipping of his teeth, and the suction of his
mouth. Her hips ached, her shoulders felt stiff. So she’d opted for a hot
shower, but she’d barely turned the water on when arms wrapped around her and
the apparently sleeping Sonny Carter was with her, complicating a simple shower
in his uniquely wonderful way.
“I
need food,” ha announced, drying his hair, completely naked and uncaring as he
walked past the open curtains. “And I could do with getting changed, will you
come back to Johnny’s and wait...then I’ll buy you dinner?”
She smiled, pulling on a sundress, “dinner? I
want paella, and sangria. Think you can manage?”
He nodded, “as long as I get to take you home
later.”
“I’m
a cheap date and an easy lay!” She offered with a giggle.
He rolled his eyes, “you are anything but
cheap, and that...” he nodded towards the bed, “...was anything but easy. Now
get you shoes on, you’re going on a date.”
And just like that, they were back as close
and as intimate as they ever were, and it was bliss.
As they sat at a beach front restaurant, a
huge jug of sangria in front of them, Martha smiled at Sonny. He looked
incredible, his tanned face, warm eyes, were all so much more engaging than
they had been this afternoon, and it was because of her.
“So
you’ll come back? To Denbrooke? To the pub?”
That made Sonny freeze, his hand holding his
glass tensed, knuckles turned white, Martha reached out and lowered the glass
to the table, uncurled his hand. “We have to talk about this, we can’t pretend
our lives, our home doesn’t exist.” She sighed, “we have to go home.”
He shook his head, “I don’t think I can do
that Martha, and I don’t think I can face it.”
She smiled, “dented pride? So you were
outsmarted by Jade, you won the pub, you’ve got me, Ethan, my father....Lucy,
they’ve missed you as much as me. Then there’s Michael, he was a broken man
when I left.”
That made his eyes tear up and it surprised
her, “I don’t want to see him again.”
“Michael?”
She was incredulous. “Why not?”
Sonny looked down for a moment, “I found out
about Jade because I overheard her talking to my father,” he gave her a glare,
“he KNEW about it and chose not to tell me. I thought I could trust him...”
Martha laughed at that, “you should have seen
the state of him when I saw him on the weekend. The man is devastated; you need
to clear the air with him. I won’t believe he was in cahoots with her.”
He shook his head, a silent response.
“I
thought we dealt with this back in the hotel room? You are not the only one
wronged here, we’ve all been hurt by Jade’s lies. So you need to man up and go
and face Michael. You forced him to accept you when he had no idea you existed...then
you run away at the first sign of stress? That’s not how families work; it’s
not how relationships work...” As he made to protest, she laughed, “I know, I
know... ‘I’ve never had family before’,
I’ve heard that story Carter, and quite frankly it’s old news. You’ve had a
year of screwing up things with me, and my family. Surely you’re learned enough
that that excuse is old hat.”
He looked at her for a moment, “when did you
become so hard?”
she smiled, “I want you in my life, but you
keep making excuses, if being harsh with the reality gets your head out of your
arse then I’m all for it.” His mouth opened in surprise, and she continued, “I
love you Sonny Carter, but I can’t lose you again.”
“So
what you’re telling me, is that in order to keep you sweet I’ve got to confront
my demons?”
She gave him her most seductive smile, “you
can ignore your demons just as long as you come home. That’s the deal...” She
leaned towards him knowing that he could see rather a lot of her cleavage in
that position, “you can do anything if we stick together, and I have no
intention of leaving your side...if
you come home.”
“I
envisaged us somewhere exotic, seeing the world...”
She smiled, “I’d rather see the inside of
your bedroom...permanently.”
With a knowing smile she watched him digest
that snippet, and knew that she was winning, slowly.
After their meal they walked, hands linked along
the beachfront, the sun setting over the calm Med. He’d decided to take her to
the club that Johnny and his sister Michelle were working at. If he was leaving
he had to tell them, and Sonny knew he’d follow Martha to the ends of the Earth.
She could read him so well; she knew that accepting that he was scared about
certain things was harder than actually being scared. He didn’t care, that was
the motto he’d lived by, but as more people got under his skin, he became more
vulnerable, suddenly there were a lot of people with the power to cause him
emotional damage, but avoiding those situations hadn’t given him the most
rewarding life to date. Part of living,
part of enjoying, and part of loving was trusting people, which in turn meant
offering up your heart at the risk of it being damaged, that was what Sonny had
found so hard. But as he looked at his hand, linked in Martha’s the pride, the
surge of unadulterated pleasure, was all due to her, to her being with him. She
was worth the risk, and with her by his side he could deal with anything else,
though it had taken him almost losing her again to realise that.
He looked down at her with a grin.
“What?”
she asked smiling. She looked beautiful tonight, her skin was glowing from the
sun, her eyes sparkled, and the dress she wore seemed to caress her every curve
amazingly.
He shrugged, “I just love the way you play
me. You know EXACTLY how to manipulate me!”
That made her lift an eyebrow in surprise, “the
promise of sex is enough to make you do anything.”
He stopped and pulled her into her arms, “I’m
thinking that I’ll do anything for one of your smiles Martha. Do you think we
can do this?”
She laughed, “what be together? What’s there
to stop us? We’ve dealt with all our demons, TOGETHER. As long as you keep talking
to me, telling me when things go wrong in that confusing brain of yours, we’ll
be fine. Ok?”
A brief nod preceded his lips finding hers,
and it was Martha that separated them for decency’s sake, then forced him to
lead her to the much talked about club.
:) I'm so happy that Martha has managed to knock some sense into Sonny. Hopefully when they get back Sonny will do the right thing and speak to Michael. Can't wait to continue reading this. By the way is this story finishing soon? Or is there still more to come? Thanks for the chapter!

She really did need to knock him, didn't she?
DeleteSonny is still really reluctant to confront his demons.
Still a few more loose ends to tie up, a few chapters to go.
